How Our Speech Pathologists Can Help
Our speech pathologists provide assessment and therapy for a range of communication and swallowing concerns
Swallowing Difficulties (Dysphagia)
Difficulty swallowing can affect nutrition, hydration, safety and enjoyment of meals. We assess swallowing concerns and provide strategies and recommendations to support safer eating and drinking.
Communication Changes After Stroke or Brain Injury
If speaking, finding words, understanding conversations or getting your message across has become more difficult following a stroke or brain injury, our speech pathologists can help. We provide assessment, therapy and practical strategies to support communication in everyday situations.
Communication and Swallowing Support for Neurological Conditions
Conditions such as Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease can affect communication, voice and swallowing over time. Our speech pathologists work with people to maintain function, build confidence and support independence.
Cognitive Communication Difficulties
Difficulties with memory, attention, problem solving and information processing can affect communication and daily activities. We provide practical strategies and therapy to help people manage these challenges more effectively.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
Assessment and support for communication devices and systems that assist functional communication.
Your first speech appointment
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know you and understand your concerns, goals and support needs.
We'll discuss your communication or swallowing difficulties, relevant medical history and the impact these challenges are having on your daily life. Depending on your needs, we may complete an assessment during the appointment to better understand your strengths and areas where support may help.
We'll then explain our findings, answer any questions you may have and work with you to develop a personalised therapy plan that aligns with your goals.
