Why see a Physiotherapist?

Think of a physiotherapist a little like a mechanic for the human body.

Just like a car, our bodies go through daily wear and tear. Whether you're working at a desk, doing a physically demanding job, playing sport or simply staying active, your body is constantly working.

When one part isn't working properly, other parts can start working harder to compensate. Over time, this can lead to pain, stiffness or injury. That's why it can be helpful to see a Physio early, rather than waiting for a small problem to become a bigger one.

Our Physios focus on your movement, function and musculoskeletal health. We'll work with you to understand what's going on, get you moving better and help you work towards your goals.

What Does a Physio Do?

Your treatment will depend on your injury, symptoms and goals.

We use a combination of evidence-based treatments and exercises, which may include Manual Therapy, Taping, Soft Tissue Release or Dry Needling to help improve movement and ease muscle or joint restrictions.

We'll also work on building your strength and confidence through exercises tailored to you — whether that's general rehabilitation, getting back to work or returning to your favourite sport.

Most importantly, we'll work with you rather than simply treating the problem.

What Does a Physiotherapy Consultation Look Like?

Your first Physio appointment is about getting to know you, understanding what's going on and working out the best way forward.

We'll ask about your symptoms, your history and how your pain or injury is affecting your everyday life. We'll then assess your movement and function to help identify the likely cause of your problem.

From there, we'll explain what's going on and put together a treatment plan that's tailored to you. A standard Physio appointment is 30 minutes, with an initial appointment of 40 minutes.

What Should You Do After a Physio Session?

The work doesn't stop when you walk out of the clinic!

Depending on your condition and goals, your Physio may give you exercises or other things to work on at home. These are an important part of your recovery and can help you continue making progress between appointments.

How often you need to see your Physio will depend on your injury, your goals and how you're progressing. There isn't a one-size-fits-all approach.

And while we'd love to tell you that everything can be fixed in one session, recovery usually takes a little time. Staying consistent with your treatment and doing your exercises at home can make a big difference.
